Summer is Coming

In just a week's time it's Hasting's famous Jack in the Green festival. The Sun is coming out to play rather regularly and the locals are getting ready for some fun. See some great JING shots by Melita Dennett. Our Experience of Hastings in Spring has been varied weather wise, it always looks beautiful though. Images below are from March to April 2013.

Garden Make Over

This week we took on Seagate's patio garden. It's a part of the cottage we have wanted to tackle for some time now and so it feels hugely satisfying to get it done and catch some springtime rays while we were at it! here are the before and after shots.

Coffee Shop Heaven

HANUSHKA COFFEE HOUSE

For a look and an atmosphere you wont want to walk away from including some brilliantly relaxing jazz, and walls full of beautiful books, a nice coffee and a pastry I can recommend this little place whole heartedly.

Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve

Theres' a breathtaking walk on our doorstep, you turn left out of Seagate Cottage and then right up Tackle-way rd and here is the foot of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve via East Hill. This expanse stands tall, overlooking the sea and hugging the old town. An awesome place to walk the dog and or the kids, pick nick or just get a stunning view. If the steps prove too much for you there is a great cliff funicular which you can catch by the seafront.

The Fun before the Fireworks

All Saints street was brimming with drums, laughter and beer on Saturday night.
The good folk of East Sussex carried torches and Guy Fawkes through the town beginning on our lovely street and spilling out onto the high street and towards the seafront. A Great sight and atmosphere; all a little bonkers but lovely to watch and a perfect way to start off the holiday season. This was truly fun for the whole family, except maybe the Dogs who were safely and happily basking by the wood burner during the evenings pops and bangs.

The Beauty of the Old Town

Lovely Section in the Guardian online about Hastings and in Particular the very interesting world of AG Hendy & Co Home Stores in the Old Town high street.
The Store opened last year after three years of rather intensive cosmetic work, it's a real beauty and is rather like walking onto a very well designed film set. Talk about a labour of love.
This super shopping and dining experience is just around the corner from Seagate Cottage and is well worth a visit.
